WHAT FORGIVENESS DOES

- Forgiveness embraces the offender.

By forgiving-and welcoming bcak-those who hurt Him the most, Christ nodeled forgiveness at its best.

- Forgiveness is proactive.

When Jesus was on the cross, He said, "Father, forgive them; for they not know what they are doing" (Luke 23:34). To be like Jesus, we must also forgive people before they even ask for it.

- Forgiveness surrenders the right to get even.

The essence of forgiveness is letting go of my rights to punish and see justice done. Forgiveness is evident when one ceases to demand retitution for hurt feelings and wounded pride.
